Student veterans might want to take a look at this $1,000 scholarship

As a veteran returning to civilian life, you might be interested in enrolling with an offline or online college.

But given that veterans are mostly non-traditional students who often times have a family and other responsibilities to handle, online degree programs seem a much better fit for this particular student category.

While the experience of attending an online college might not come easy at first, veterans can enjoy a bunch of perks if they decide to pursue a higher education.

The most important one has to do with getting a scholarship. It’s a well-known fact that today an on-campus or online degree can cost an arm-and-a-leg. Most students going to college have a hard time paying off their student fees, and end up taking out a student loan at some point or another.

But loans are the less optimal alternative. Scholarships are by far the better option and veteran students can fully take advantage of it.

While, it’s true that fees at the online college might be a bit more affordable, an online degree still costs a lot of cash. Even if you’re taking only a few internet courses, you’ll still have to shed a pretty hefty sum.

But fortunately, there are a lot of scholarships targeting veterans out there. These are free money grants that don’t have to be repaid once you’re done with your internet courses.

And there are everywhere online, you just have to search for them. But we get it, you might not know where to start exactly.

There are so many scholarships options these days, it’s hard not to get confused. Which is why we’re going to get you started by sharing a scholarship opportunity with you, especially aimed at veteran students. This way, you can get an idea of the kind of scholarships you’re supposed to be after.

Enter the Ranger Memorial Foundation Scholarship. This program is opened for those who have dedicated themselves to the Ranger Creed, as well as family members that have sacrificed so much to support all Rangers.

You can either be a high-school senior or already in college in order to apply, but a minimum GPA of 3.0 is needed in order to be eligible for this grant.

In order to register your candidature, students need to fill out an extensive application form which includes information like:

  • Proposed major
  • List of leadership activities
  • Future goals
  • List of honors and awards received
  • Two letters of reference
  • Official school transcript

The application period each year is between January 1 and June 1. The scholarship was established sin 1999, and has been helping student rangers since then. The winner of the grant will be awarded $1,000 in cash.

This is just an example of scholarships that vets can apply to in order to fund their internet courses. But there are many more out there. Obviously, you won’t be able to apply for all, but if you search enough, you’ll find a at least a few you qualify for.
